You are a border guard for Canada (we do stand on guard for thee) now solve the problems you find by letting in people who have a good passport (and whose picture and dates on the passport make sense), make sure their picture and passport template are correct (by template, I mean the image behind the passport). Either an invalid expiration date, or an invalid birthday can throw off your progress to promotion. Good luck!
